On Saturday, December 13, the Lawrence Historical Society and the Museum of the American Revolution will bring a traveling historical exhibition to Mercer County called The First Oval Office Project — “All Who Were There.”

From 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, visitors are invited to step inside a meticulously recreated version of George Washington’s field headquarters — the tent where he lived, planned, and led during the darkest and most decisive moments of the Revolutionary War. Sometimes referred to as America’s first “Oval Office,” the tent serves as a powerful, tangible reminder of the people—soldiers, aides, tradespeople, enslaved camp servants, and families—whose sacrifices shaped the early republic.
This program is free and open to all, making it a rare, accessible opportunity for families, students, history enthusiasts, and community members to experience the Revolutionary era in a vivid, personal way.
