Fans of the Hopewell Valley Arts Council’s Stampede gathered Sunday afternoon at Hopewell Elementary School to celebrate and bid farewell to the sixty-eight oxen that have decorated Hopewell Valley for the last few months.
With live music and food trucks, arts council representatives helped celebrate the award winning Stampede artists and announced the winners of the People’s Choice and Sponsor’s Choice awards. Winners include:
Sponsors’ Choice Award: Wizard of Ox by Janet Keller Laughlin & Alissa Keller Laughlin, sponsored by A Hopewell Book Club
People’s Choice Awards:
1st Place: Arty by the Pennington School sponsored by The Pennington School
2nd Place: Splendor in the Glass by Jane Zamost sponsored by Capital Health
3rd Place: Olly the Orthopaedic Ox by Elizabeth Keating sponsored by the Trenton Orthopaedic Gorup
And the online bidding for 33 oxen raised $73,581 for the Hopewell Valley Arts Council to provide more programming and events to bring art into the everyday life of Hopewell Valley residents.
The 69th “mysteriox,” named Indigene, created by Ground for Sculpture artist Clifford Ward also was revealed at the event.
