Leadership transitions across the Princeton–Hopewell Valley region are marking the start of 2026, with changes announced at the Princeton Mercer Regional Chamber of Commerce, Good Grief, and Grounds For Sculpture.
Princeton Mercer Regional Chamber of Commerce: Hal English to Retire in 2026
The Princeton Mercer Regional Chamber of Commerce announced that President and CEO Hal English will retire in June 2026, concluding more than five years of leadership at the organization. English has served as president and CEO since January 2021.

Board Chair Patrick L. Ryan credited English with guiding the Chamber through a period of unprecedented disruption.
“When Hal English assumed the role of President and CEO of the Chamber, we were still in the midst of a global pandemic,” Ryan said. “He deftly steered our organization through the crisis, and we emerged stronger because of his leadership. Today, the Chamber is thriving with an engaged Board, strong support from our sponsors, and – most importantly – a thriving membership.”
During his tenure, English oversaw the Chamber’s return to in-person programming, a comprehensive rebrand, the implementation of a new CRM and member portal, and the launch of New Jersey’s first Young Entrepreneurs Academy. The Chamber also expanded its communications platforms, including Princeton Mercer Business Magazine and Chamber Chat, and revitalized the Chamber Foundation.
“I am extraordinarily proud of the work we have achieved together as a Chamber community in the last five years,” English said. “Though I am looking forward to retirement, I know I will miss the people – the Board, the staff, and the members who make our Chamber great.”
English will remain in his role through June to support a smooth leadership transition. The Chamber’s Board of Directors is expected to announce plans for a national search for the next president and CEO in the coming weeks.
