Final election results in; Ou Liu is HT’s newest rep to school board

by Amie Rukenstein

November 21 was the date on which NJ county clerks certified the election final count and results, including write-in ballots for the Hopewell Township representative to the Hopewell Valley Board of Education, now have been released. There actually were 99 separate names written in for HV BOE rep. The top write-in vote getter, who will join Michael Wilson as freshman School Board representatives is Ou Liu with 443 votes (plus 26 for Lydia Liu, who is the same person).

The voters’ decisions in all other Hopewell Valley races remain unchanged as tallies were posted yesterday. The only other race that was at all close was for Fire Commissioner in Hopewell Township where William Mullen failed to pull out of third place to fill one of the two spots open. Enrique Rodriguez ended with 36.51% of the vote, Christopher Paul Jones had 33.15%, and Mullen’s 30.34%.

Edited at 1:30PM 11/22/22 to correct the final number.

Edited on 11/23/22 to note that the County Clerk will post final FINAL tallies on November 26.
