Garage Fire Shuts Rt 518 Traffic in Hopewell

The Hopewell Township Police Department, along with the Hopewell Fire Department responded to a reported garage fire on Hopewell Rocky Hill Road this afternoon. The homeowner reported that a detached garage on the property was on fire. Hopewell Township Police Officers arrived on scene and observed fire to a structure behind the main residence of the property.

Fire personnel under the command of Hopewell Fire Company arrived on location and extinguished the fire. 

Traffic along Hopewell Rocky Hill Road (Route 518) between Amwell Road and Province Line Road was detoured due to firefighting efforts

Responding agencies assisting the Hopewell Fire Department were the Union Fire Department, Pennington Fire Company, Montgomery Fire Companies #1 and #2, West Trenton Fire, Hopewell First Aid Squad, and Princeton First Aid Squad.

The detached structure sustained significant fire, smoke, and water damage. 

The source of the fire is under investigation by Officer Voorhees of the Hopewell Township Police Department and Fire Official Fosina from the Hopewell Valley Emergency Services.

The fire is believed to be accidental in nature.
