HomeFront Annual Back-to-School Drive Gets Kids Ready to Learn

by Community Contributor

HomeFront and the local community have come together for over three decades to make sure local children in low-income families have all they need for a successful start to the new school year.

Sarah Steward, HomeFront CEO, explained, “We believe that children have limitless potential. To reach their academic potential, it is important that children feel confident and prepared for school. Helping our families with backpacks and other necessities makes getting ready for the first day of school the joyous occasion it should be—for parents and the child—and starts these precious youngsters on the path to a successful year in the classroom.”

This year, HomeFront plans to outfit 1,500 children with the basics: brand-new backpacks, supplies, uniforms/ clothing, shoes—and snacks! There are multiple ways the community can help HomeFront reach this goal. As in years past, individuals, families, organizations, and businesses can sign up to sponsor one or more children. Sponsors will receive a detailed list of the specific items each child needs. General donations, including gift cards and financial contributions, are also welcome.
