Hopewell Township Police issued the following update regarding the homicide in Hopewell Township.

See Homicide in Hopewell Under Investigation and Hopewell Township Police Issue Update on Homicide in Hopewell Under Investigation.

On Friday evening, April 28, an individual was arrested in Hamilton and charged with eluding police. He is being held in the Mercer County Correction Center and scheduled for a detention hearing on Wednesday morning.

On April 27, at approximately 9 p.m., a Hamilton patrol officer observed a black Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck traveling on East State Street in the direction of Johnston Avenue. The vehicle description and registration matched that of a vehicle that was reported stolen from a residence on Washington Crossing-Pennington Road in Hopewell, NJ, on April 25. The patrol officer attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop, however, the operator of the vehicle, later identified as the individual above, did not comply and proceeded to drive at a high rate of speed in an attempt to elude police.

The investigation into the homicide of Laura M. Perez is ongoing, and at this time, no one has been charged in the homicide.  The Chevy pickup being driven by the suspect and sought in connection to the homicide in Hopewell is in police custody.
