Letter to the Editor: Hopewell Valley Education Foundation launches annual campaign

by Community Contributor

To the Editor:

Did you know that the Hopewell Valley Education Foundation has raised over $500,000 for the Hopewell Valley Regional School District throughout the past 19 years?  The Foundation provides various types of funding and support throughout the year that enriches the educational experience of our amazing students. Some of the initiatives the Foundation directly funds are grants for teachers to enhance their curriculum, college scholarships for students, outfitting our schools with new technologies like iPads, laptops and 3-D printers and providing pre-engineering programs.

The Hopewell Valley Education Foundation has launched our annual campaign called the “Power of 100.”  We need your help to continue our efforts. This year’s campaign is focused on helping to fund a new three-year initiative of teacher training to maximize the effectiveness of Inquiry-Based Learning.

The leaders in our District have adopted Inquiry-Based Learning as a way of fostering student success through more dynamic classroom learning and engagement.  Students enjoy far more opportunity to use their own critical and creative thinking skills and hone their presentation and team-building abilities. The HVEF’s support of the district’s move toward Inquiry-Based Learning, specifically the robust teacher training in the Harkness Method, will enable a challenging and supportive learning environment for our students.

Please join me in contributing to the “Power of 100” campaign by contributing a donation via hvef.org/powerof100 or mail to HVEF at P.O. Box 553, Pennington, N.J. 08534.

Thank you for your support!
