Jocelyn Sickels was born on March 18, 1933, in Trenton, NJ, to Wilber and Edith Stout.
Jocelyn graduated from Hopewell Valley Central High School in 1951and went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Trenton State college in 1955. She started her career as a first-grade teacher and went on to work for the Ewing School district as a Special Education Teacher. She then worked for the State Of New Jersey as an investigator in the Departments of Cemeteries and Banking and Insurance.
Jocelyn married Joseph Sickels on August 22, 1953, in the Pennington Presbyterian Church. The couple had 4 children, Marjorie Pomerantz, of Bridgewater, Cathy Fortenbaugh, of Titusville, NJ, Chris Sickels, of San Diego, CA, Jonathan Sickels, of Austin, TX.
Jocelyn was known for her gentle spirit, kindness, and unwavering love for her family. She enjoyed biking, hiking in the Pine Barrens, yoga, Tai Chi, and long walks with her dog. A lifelong lover of reading, she cherished every opportunity to share knowledge with her children and grandchildren. Time spent with family was her greatest joy.
Jocelyn is survived by Marjorie Pomerantz – daughter, of Bridgewater, Cathy Fortenbaugh – daughter, of Titusville, Chris Sickels – son, of San Diego, CA, Jonathan Sickels – son, of Austin, TX, Peter McGrath – son-in-law, of Titusville, Robin McGrath – granddaughter, of Rutherford, Patrick Fortenbaugh and his wife Sarah- grandson, of Ewing Township, Sean Fortenbaugh – grandson, Donald McGrath – grandson, of Philadelphia, PA, Mark Pomerantz – grandson, of Neshanic Station, wife, Victoria Shekk, Jessica Pomerantz – granddaughter, of Los Angeles, CA, Michael Pomerantz – grandson, of La Mesa, CA, Paul Pomerantz – son-in-law, of Bridgewater, Karen Sickels – daughter-in-law, of San Diego, CA, Henry Sickels – grandson, Alexander Sickels – grandson, of San Diego, CA, Renee Sickels – daughter-in-law, of Austin, TX, Parker Sickels – granddaughter, of Austin, TX, Lauren Sickels – granddaughter, Sonia Force – sister, of Flemington, Nancy Zwick – sister, of Hainesport, Penelope Branham – sister, of Pennington, Kyle McGrath – great-grandson and wife Jaime McGrath, Katelyn Stoner, – great-granddaughter and husband Josh Stoner, Edna Stout – sister-in-law, of Pennington, Penny Ann Stout – sister-in-law. Jocelyn has numerous beloved nieces, nephews and friends.
Jocelyn is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Sickels, her Mother and Father, Wilber and Edith Stout, her brothers, Nils and Arthur Stout, and her sister, Carol Meszaros.
The service for Mrs. Jocelyn Sickels will be held on Saturday, at 12:00 PM at Titusville United Methodist Church.
Visitation: Saturday, at 11:00 AM at Titusville United Methodist Church.
Burial: Titusville United Methodist Church Cemetery, Titusville, NJ.
