A pedestrian accident occurred yesterday on Hopewell Wertsville Road, involving a 33-year-old resident of Hopewell Township.
At around 4:52pm on Sunday, June 16, Hopewell Township Police received a distressing 911 call reporting a pedestrian had been struck by a motor vehicle. Upon arrival, officers found that the individual had inadvertently run into the path of a vehicle while in a state of crisis.
The 33-year-old man collided with the passenger side of a vehicle driven by a 63-year-old from Princeton, causing the pedestrian to fall and sustain a compound fracture to his right ankle after his foot was run over by the vehicle.
Emergency responders provided immediate aid at the scene, and the injured pedestrian was subsequently transported to the hospital for treatment of his injuries, which were serious but non-life-threatening.
The driver involved in the incident has cooperated fully with the ongoing investigation, which is being led by Detective Christopher Collins of the Hopewell Township Police Department, with assistance from the Mercer.
