The following is information provided by the Pennington Borough Police Department:

Date: 6/5/2023    Time: 16:20 Jurisdiction- Pennington Borough

Type of Incident: Fraud

Investigating: SFC Burroughs / P.O. Marone

Charges:

Details: SFC Burroughs and Officer Marone responded to a business located on West Delaware Ave for a report of fraud. An unknown male contacted employees from the business and stated that he was from the “Pennington Police Department.” The actor than proceeded to tell the employees that the owner of the business was under arrest for passing counterfeit bills at the bank. One of the employees who believed that they were helping the owner out, went to their personal bank and withdrew money and sent it to the actor via QR codes.

Type of Incident:  Criminal mischief

Investigating: P.O. Marone

Charges:

Details:  Officer Marone responded to the old Department of Public Works (DPW) building located on West Delaware Avenue for a swastika that was spray painted on the exterior of the building. Photographs were taken and the graffiti was removed by DPW.

Type of Incident: Arrest

Investigating Officer: P.O Marone

Charges: 2C:33-2A

Details: Officer Marone responded to North Main St and Brookside Avenue for a report of a woman sitting in the middle of the street. Upon arrival officers spoke with her, the women stated she was protesting because of the large trucks which were transporting materials through town. An arrest was eventually made after the women refused to move from the street.

Type of Incident: Domestic Violence

Investigating Officer: Mark Caruso

Charges: 2C:12-1

Details: Officer Caruso responded to a Woolsey Ct. address for the report of physical altercation. Upon arrival, officers spoke with a male and female on location. After further investigation, the male on scene was arrested for simple assault.


Date:6/13/2023 Time: 10:28    Jurisdiction – Pennington Borough

Type of Incident: Theft / Bias incident

Investigating Officer: P.O. Marone

Details:  Officer Marone responded to 13 South Main St. for a report of a stolen LGBTQ pride flag which was being displayed on the front lawn of the church, the flag was valued at $300.


Date:6/13/2023 Time: 20:16      Jurisdiction – Pennington Borough

Type of Incident:  Theft

Investigating: P.O. Dascoli

Details: Officer D’Ascoli responded to a West Delaware Avenue residence for a report of theft. The resident explained to D’Ascoli that a package had been delivered to his house but when he went to retrieve it was not there. A search of the area rendered negative results.


Date:6/14/2023   Time: 10:10 Jurisdiction – Pennington Borough

Type of Incident: Criminal mischief

Investigating: P.O Marone

Details: Officer Marone responded to a walk-in criminal mischief complaint, with regard to the “All are Welcome” and the Pride Flag that had been located on the front lawn of the church located at 60 S Main St. Both signs had been painted over and made to be unreadable.


Date:6/20/2023    Time: 14:26 Jurisdiction – Pennington Borough

Type of Incident: Stolen Vehicle

Investigating Officer: SFC Burroughs / P.O Caruso

Charges: 2C:20-3

Details: SFC Burroughs and Officer Caruso responded to a North Main Street residence for a report of a stolen vehicle. Upon arrival, a female at the residence told officers that her boyfriend had taken off in her vehicle with their child. The male was later charged, and a warrant is currently out for his arrest. The vehicle was later returned by another party.

Type of Incident:  Theft

Investigating Officer:  SFC Thomas / P.O. Caruso

Charges:

Details: Officer Caruso responded to a West Franklin Ave address on the report of a missing license plate. The plate was later found to be installed on another vehicle that was used in several burglaries in multiple jurisdictions. This incident is still under investigation.

Type of Incident:  Burglary

Investigating Officer: P.O. Caruso

Charges:

Details: Officer Caruso responded to a West Welling Avenue address for a report of a car burglary. Upon speaking with the owner, he stated that his car door was open that morning, and he believes someone went inside it. A neighbor who lives across the street was able to capture surveillance footage, which showed a male going up the driveway at 3:34AM and pulling on vehicle door handles. The male in the incident could not be identified, he was wearing a mask and gloves.

Type of Incident:  Property Damage

Investigating Officer: P.O. Caruso

Charges:

Details: Officer Caruso responded to an East Welling Avenue address for a report of an egg thrown at a vehicle. There was no damage to the vehicle, but parts of an egg were found on the vehicle and on the ground.


Date:6/23/2023   Time: 4:21   Jurisdiction- Pennington Borough

Type of Incident:  Theft

Investigating Officer: SFC. Thomas

Charges:

Details: SFC Thomas responded to a South Main Street address for a report of theft. The resident, an off-duty officer, stated someone had broken into his vehicle, and stole an evidence case and body armor. Items that were taken from this vehicle were found on Hale Street and returned to the owner after being collected by officers.
