Imagine you are isolated at home and the only other living thing in your home is your pet. Meals on Wheels of Mercer County (MOWMC) knows and sees every day the tremendous value a pet can bring to the lives of homebound seniors. Many MWMC clients would do anything to keep that “furry family member” alive, which sometimes includes feeding pets a meal before feeding themselves.
Sharing the only food our seniors have is not good for the them or for their pets. Therefore, MOWMC has seen to the needs of these lower income seniors by providing free pet food twice per month along with their human meal so neither go hungry.
Research shows keeping seniors together with their pets helps combat social isolation and improve well-being! So, this year, as they celebrate they 50th Anniversary, MOWMC will be host the inaugural Paws for our Cause Pet Walk.
Please join Event Chair, Mercer County Commissioner Nina Melker and MOWMC staff and supporters on May 13, 2023 at Rosedale Park to help Meals on Wheels of Mercer County celebrate our seniors and their furry friends.
