Shoulder and lane closures required this week for construction sign installation
New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced lane and shoulder closures as a Guide Rail Replacement project begins on Route 29 in Ewing, Hamilton, and Trenton, Mercer County.
Beginning at 9am tomorrow, Tuesday, July 26, until 3pm, and continuing daily Monday through Friday for approximately one week, NJDOT’s contractor, M.L. Ruberton Construction Co., Inc., is scheduled to close the right shoulder on Route 29 between I-295 in Hamilton and River Road at the D&R Canal in Ewing to install construction signage. No lane closures are expected for daytime work.
Additionally, beginning at 8pm tomorrow, Tuesday, July 26, until 6am Wednesday, July 27, and continuing nightly Monday through Friday for approximately one week, single lane closures will be necessary to continue construction sign installation. One lane of traffic will be maintained during nighttime work.
This work is part of a $3.3 million federally-funded project to replace guiderails along approximately nine miles of Route 29 in Ewing, Hamilton, and Trenton, Mercer County. Roadway work associated with guiderail replacement may also include modifications to bridge parapets, concrete curb and inlet work, and berm grading. This project is expected to be complete in Spring of 2023.
