Sports Monday Update

The bulldogs huddle up for a post-game debrief at the Moorestown tournament.

This week, the Hopewell Valley Central High School (HVCHS) Girls Volleyball team started their season off strong with a 2- set win against Princeton Day School: 25-21 and 25-12.

Strong offense was played by outsides Sofie Ragins and Emilie Sawicki, as well as some great defense from libero Michaela Kwak and defensive specialist Megan Silberberger.

On Friday, the Bulldogs took a tough three-set loss to Delaware Valley: 20-25, 25-18, 19-25. Despite the loss, the bulldogs played a great game with multiple blocks from Faith Dunham and Charlotte Catlett as well as some kills from Ragins, Zoe Reznik, and Sydney Brown. The game also included some strong setting from Zoe Kitson and Anna Chrnelich. -Emilie Sawicki

Meanwhile, HVCHS Boys Soccer team started off their season with two wins, against Allentown and Ewing.

On Wednesday, Hopewell defeated Allentown in a tight game by a score of 2-1. The winning goal was scored by Kamil Mosionek (with an assist by Nick Tagliareni) with 42 seconds left in the game. Earlier, Gunnar Casano scored with assist by Richie Kiefer.

On Saturday the Bulldogs defeated Ewing, shutting them out 7-0. Alex Tagliareni scored a hat trick, and Nick Tagliareni, Gunnar Casano, Alex Ludecke, and Dean Giacomo also scored. The Bulldogs have had a great start to the season so far.
