Proposal to Rename Washington Crossing Post Office for Flood Victim Advances

by Mary Galioto

The U.S. House of Representatives approved a bill to rename the Washington Crossing Post Office in honor of Susan C. Barnhart, a victim of last year’s devastating flash floods in Bucks County. The legislation, co-sponsored by local Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman and Bucks County Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick, now advances to the Senate.

Barnhart, from Titusville, NJ was an employee of the post office in Washington Crossing, PA. On July 15, 2023, she was tragically swept away during flash floods that impacted the region. Barnhart was one of seven flooding fatalities that day.
