Thefts and attempted thefts from Hopewell Borough to Titusville last week

The following is based on information provided by the Hopewell Township Police Department, which serves Hopewell Township and Hopewell Borough:

Attempted iPhone theft from FedEx driver in Hopewell Borough 
On September 19, Sgt Mark Panzano responded to a call regarding an attempted theft of a package from a FedEx drive at a North Greenwood residence in Hopewell Borough. Reportedly, two male suspects drove up to a Fedex truck making delivery at a residence and attempted to take a boxed iPhone from the Fedex delivery driver, claiming to reside at the delivery address. Ultimately, the driver did not allow the suspects to take possession of the iPhone and left the scene. The resident (victim) later also found that their debit card was compromised and funds were lost. The total amount stolen was $1,054.34. The investigation is ongoing.

Thief steals hundreds of dollars worth of items from Michael’s Deli
On September 24, Officer Paul Alvaro responded to Michael’s Deli in Hopewell Borough for a reported shoplifting. The victim reported that an unidentified male suspect walked into the store and stole a box of glass pipes, five boxes of flavor cartridges, and one box of an herbal supplement from the front counter of the store. The suspect then walked out of the store and left the area on foot. The total value of the items stolen was $680.42. The investigation is ongoing. 

Thousands in cash stolen from It’s Nutts
On September 18, Office Landon Zagacki responded to It’s Nutts on River Road in Titusville for a reported theft. It was reported that $2,736 was stolen from the restaurant’s cash proceeds over the course of three days: 9/11, 9/12, and 9/13 consecutively. Further details and surveillance footage were provided to the officer. The investigation is ongoing. 

Cell phone stolen from Buy Rite employee
On September 24, Officer Paul Alvaro met with the victim of theft at police headquarters. The victim reported that they work at the Buy Rite Liquor Store on South Route 31 in Pennington. The victim’s friend came to the store and asked to use his phone because her phone’s battery was dead, and she needed to make a call. The victim stated that the individual then left the store, seemingly to make the call, but never returned with the phone. The individual was charged with theft of the cell phone, but has not yet been processed. The matter will be heard in Municipal Court.  

Fraud victim finds over 7K stolen from credit union account
On September 21, Officer Neil Hunt met with the victim of fraud in the Hopewell Township Police Department lobby. The victim reported that an unknown party stole $7,200 from their federal credit union account. The transaction took place in Delaware and false documents were used by the suspect in this case. Ultimately, the funds were replenished to the victim’s account, however the investigation is ongoing. 

Over $1.3K in medication stolen from Stop & Shop
On September 23, Officer Blake DeMeter was dispatched to the Stop & Shop on Denow Road for a reported shoplifting incident. Upon arrival, DeMeter met with loss prevention who advised a male and female suspect stole over-the-counter medication from the store on September 23 at approximately 4:30pm. The suspects are seen on surveillance taking the medication, placing the items in a shopping cart, and leaving the store. The suspects have not yet been identified. The total amount stolen was $1,397.79. The investigation is ongoing.
