More than 800,000 people in the Garden State are grappling with hunger, including 1 in 10 children. As a leading local farm committed to sustainable and ethical farming practices, Fairgrown Farm is taking a stand against this crisis by partnering with The Chubby’s Project, a local nonprofit in Hopewell dedicated to food justice.
Fairgrown Farm, known for its dedication to community well-being and fresh, quality produce, is excited to announce a collaboration with The Chubby’s Project. This partnership aims to leverage the abundance of local farms in New Jersey to directly address the pressing issue of food insecurity affecting a significant portion of the state’s population.
“At Fairgrown Farm, we believe in the power of community and the role local agriculture can play in addressing hunger. Teaming up with The Chubby’s Project allows us to channel our commitment to sustainable farming into meaningful action for those in need,” said James Klett, co-founder of Fairgrown Farm.
As part of this joint initiative, Fairgrown Farm is actively participating in a fundraising campaign for The Chubby’s Project to sponsor farm shares for neighbors in need. These shares, also known as CSA (community supported agriculture), are boxes of fresh produce either delivered directly to people’s homes or picked up on the farm every week. Fairgrown has run this program for paying members of the community for 5 years, but now, with the leadership of The Chubby’s Project, is able to make the program accessible for households facing food insecurity. The goal for the first year of the project is to support 70 families in the Hopewell, Princeton, Ewing, and Montgomery area.
Community members are invited to support this important cause by contributing to the fundraising campaign. Every contribution, regardless of size, will play a crucial role in ensuring that families in New Jersey have access to the nourishing food they need. Every $1 raised will provide another serving of fresh vegetables for neighbors in need. Donations can be made online at:

If you know of a family in need that could benefit from this program, there is an intake form available on the GoFundMe page. Any food insecure household in the local area can participate in this program and receive fresh produce from May through November from local farms.
Fairgrown Farm is honored to stand alongside The Chubby’s Project in the fight against hunger, showcasing the impact of local collaboration in making a meaningful difference in the lives of the many people in our community facing food insecurity.
