Trenton Water Works Maintains Clean Water Supply through Flushing Program

Residents of Stephenson Road may have noticed a continuously flowing fire hydrant. This is part of Trenton Water Works’ (TWW) annual low-velocity flushing program, designed to maintain water quality within its 683-mile distribution system. Flushing helps prevent the growth of pathogens, such as Legionella, by ensuring chlorine levels remain effective, a crucial measure during the warmer months.

The hydrant flushing will continue throughout the summer to keep the water system clean and safe.

For more information about the flushing program or to learn about Legionella, visit the NJDEP’s webpage at dep.nj.gov/trentonwater/legionella.

Questions can be directed to TWW’s Office of Communications and Community Relations at (609) 989-3033, available Monday to Friday, from 8:30am to 4:30pm.
