Hopewell Township officials have announced a series of road closures and traffic restrictions in place this week, affecting several key routes through August 9. The closures are part of ongoing utility work and infrastructure improvements.
Motorists should expect detours and limited access in and around Pennington Road, South Main Street, Pennington Titusville Road, and other nearby residential streets. Township officials are urging residents to plan ahead and use alternate routes where possible.
Key closures include:
- Pennington Road, S. Main Street, and Pennington Lawrenceville Road
- Closed at intersections with Pennington Lawrenceville Rd., E. Welling Ave., Blackwell Rd., and Search Ave.
- No through traffic at W. Delaware Ave. and Burd St., Vannoy Ave. and Ingleside Ave., Baldwin St. and E. Welling St., and Ingleside Ave. and Burd St.
- South Main Street’s “Boulevard” section is closed near 413 S. Main and Toll Gate Grammar School.
- Residents with odd-numbered addresses between 325 and 413 S. Main may use E. Welling Ave. for parking.
- Pennington Titusville Road and W. Delaware Avenue (between S. Timberlane Dr. and Route 31)
- Closed at S. Timberlane Dr. and at Route 31.
- Middle and high schools are accessible via Dublin Road.
- Pennington Library is accessible from Route 31 early in the week.

- Closed at Glenwood Dr., with local traffic only from Washington Crossing-Pennington Rd.
- Pennington Lawrenceville Road
- Closed at Pennington Rd. and Blackwell Rd.
- E. Curlis Avenue
- Closed at S. Main St. and Abey Dr.
- Access to Toll Gate Grammar School is available only from S. Main or Abey Dr., depending on the intersection.
- Abey Drive
- Closed at E. Curlis Ave. and E. Delaware Ave.
Detour signs and local access accommodations are in place where applicable. No through traffic is permitted on posted streets during closure periods.
