Drivers should expect lane closures, detours, and paving crews around the Hopewell Valley this week as multiple road projects continue through Oct. 10.
In Hopewell Township, resurfacing is underway on several local roads as part of the Township’s 2025 paving program. Meanwhile, in and around Pennington, gas line replacement work by Elizabethtown Gas is prompting additional temporary closures and detours.
Crews generally work between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., with gas company crews beginning at 9 a.m. Local access for residents, emergency vehicles, deliveries, and trash collection will be maintained throughout.
Hopewell Township Paving Schedule
Work managed by Van Cleef Engineering Associates and Asphalt Paving Systems is expected to wrap up by Friday, Oct. 10, weather permitting.
Scheduled for Monday, Oct. 6:
• Pleasant Valley–Harbourton Rd (Route 579 to township boundary)
• Mine Rd (Route 31 to Marshalls Corner Rd)
• Hansen’s Corner
Tuesday, Oct. 7: Church Rd (from Fiddlers Creek Rd to Route 29)
Wednesday, Oct. 8: Bayberry Rd
Thursday, Oct. 9: Aunt Molly Rd (North and South ends)

Gas Line Work in Pennington Area
Elizabethtown Gas continues its gas line replacement project this week, with several short-term closures and detours scheduled through Wednesday, Oct. 8:
Blackwell Rd., Hopewell Township (Oct. 6–7) — Closed at Route 31 (Pennington Circle) and Pennington-Lawrenceville Rd. Residents should enter from Pennington-Lawrenceville Rd.
Broemel Place (Oct. 7) — Closed to through traffic at Route 31 and at Broemel Place and Bixby Way.
West Delaware Ave. (west of Route 31, Oct. 7–8) — Closed at South Timberlane Dr. and Pennington-Titusville Rd., and at Route 31. The Hopewell Branch Library and Hopewell Valley Middle and High Schools remain accessible from Dublin Rd.
East Delaware Ave. (Oct. 8) — Closed at King George Rd., the E. Delaware and S/N Main St. intersection, and Eglantine Ave. and Park Ave.
What Drivers Should Know
Motorists are advised to follow posted detours, plan alternate routes, and allow extra travel time in and around Pennington and Hopewell Township during the next several days.
