Spirit week at Hopewell Valley Central High School culminated with the Football game against Northern Burlington on Friday night.  With the Dawg Pound in big bark mode, the fans were excited for the evening.

Even though the Northern Burlington Greyhounds came in with a 2-2 record, they were not to be taken lightly. They jumped off to a field goal after a drive stalled due to a muffed punt return by the Bulldogs to take a 3-0 lead. That would be the only lead for the visitors all night. Each team tried to play ball control all evening, respecting each other with a game of keep away. Fortunately, for the Bulldogs they had seasoned quarterback Tim McKeown on their side.

Shortly after the Greyhound field goal, the Bulldogs marched down and capped the drive with a 16-yard dash by Derek Van Brunt to the end zone. After a little back and forth by stingy defenses, in the second quarter, the Bulldogs moved into scoring position only to have Tim McKeown bust to the end zone on a one-yard quarterback keeper.

In the second half, both defenses showed their mettle allowing for a bend, but not break stances. The game ended with a 14-3 victory for the undefeated home Bulldogs (4-0) .
