Hopewell Township Police Blotter: Bias Incident, Harassment, Criminal Mischief, Theft

The following is information provided by the Hopewell Township Police Department:

Bias Incident and Harassment: On 6-6-17 at 4:01 pm, Officer Lincoln Karnoff responded to Gentry Court on the report of a bias incident of harassment. Upon speaking with the female victim, Officer Karnoff was advised that a male had verbally harassed her and the statements were also based on her race.  Upon completing his investigation, Officer Lincoln Karnoff charged a male individual with harassment that was biased based. His case will be reviewed by the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office.

Burglary and Theft: On 6-14-17 at 7:57 pm, Officer Nicholas Sparaco was contacted by the victim who reported that she rents a residence on Route 31. She stated while she was out of the house, the property manager entered her home and removed all her belongings. During his investigation Officer Sparaco arrested and charged a resident of Pennington for Burglary and Theft. The individual was transported to police headquarters where she was processed and then committed to the Mercer County Correctional Center. Her case will be forwarded to the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office for review.

DWI: On 6-14-17 at 11:56 pm, Officer Robert Sparano stopped a 2013 Honda on Route 31 for swerving.  After roadside sobriety testing, a male individual was placed under arrest for DWI and transported to police headquarters. He was processed and released to a friend after being cited for DWI, Reckless Driving, Failure to Maintain Lane and Improper Use of Headlamps. This case will be heard in municipal court.

Criminal mischief: On 6-12-17, Officer James Klesney took a criminal mischief report. Sometime between 6-9 and 6-12 someone damaged three light fixtures that illuminate two signs and a flagpole in the Brandon Farms development. The cost of the damage was estimated at $480.00.

Theft: Officer William Gaskill responded to an Elm Ridge Road address for the report of a theft on 10-16-17. Sometime between 10 AM and 8 PM, someone removed an orange “RIGID” Model 7500 gas powered generator from the property. The loss was estimated at $750.00.

Theft: Officer John Ferner responded to a Louellen Street address for the report of a theft on 6-17. Sometime between 9 AM and 7:45 PM someone removed a Betsey Ross edition American flag that was displayed on a utility pole in front of the property. The loss was estimated at $20.00.
