Hopewell Township police officer retires to pursue career in law

Officer John “Sandy” Ferner has retired after 25 years of service to the residents of Hopewell Valley as a member of the Hopewell Township Police Department

Ferner began his career as an HTPD officer in June of 1997. During his career, he spent time as a Traffic Officer, Field Training Officer, Firearms Instructor, and Drug Recognition Expert (DRE). Ferner was the recipient of several departmental awards and commendations.

Ferner graduated from the University of Delaware, Widener School of Law in May 2021, cum laude, with a certificate for outstanding achievement. He passed the New Jersey bar exam in July 2021.

The Hopewell Township Police Department commented: “Thank you for your many years of honorable service and dedication to the community. You will be greatly missed. Good luck in your future endeavors as Sandy Ferner, Esq.
