by Mary Galioto

Last night, the Hopewell Valley Regional School District (HVRSD) recognized twenty Central High School students who are National Merit Scholars and Semi Finalists.

About 1.5 million students in approximately 22,000 high schools enter the National Merit Scholarship competition annually when they take the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). The 50,000 student with the highest PSAT/NMSQT Selection Index scores qualify for recognition in the National Merit Scholarship Program. Of those  50,000 students, only 16,000 students qualify as Semi-Finalist.

“We are proud to recognize an increasing number of National Merit Scholars, their success validates our efforts to continually improve our educational program for all students in our district,” said Lisa Wolff, HVRSD Board of Education President.
