HTPD Police Blotter: Week of 8/8/22

The following is information provided by the Hopewell Township Police Department:

Fictitious Temporary License Plate  

On July 28, 2022 at approximately 8:38am, Officer George Peterson conducted a motor vehicle stop on a white colored Honda sedan on Washington Crossing Pennington Rd. for a motor vehicle violation. The driver of the vehicle was identified as a 59 year old individual from Bronx, NY. Through the motor vehicle stop investigation, the individual was found to be operating the vehicle with a fictitious temporary registration. They were placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for processing. They were subsequently charged with possessing a fraudulent government document, which was placed on a summons and they were later released. The case will be heard in Superior Court. 

On August 7, 2022 at approximately 10:34am, Officer Peterson conducted a motor vehicle stop on a white colored Honda sedan on County Route 579 for a motor vehicle violation. The driver of the vehicle was identified as a 23 year old individual from Philadelphia, PA. Through the motor vehicle stop investigation, the individual was found to be operating the vehicle with a fictitious temporary registration. They were placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for processing. They were subsequently charged with possessing a fraudulent government document which was placed on a summons and were later released. The case will be heard in Superior Court. 

Contempt of Court, Possession of CDS, Hindering Apprehension

On July 28, 2022 at approximately 2:02pm, Officer Peterson performed a motor vehicle stop on a gold colored Infiniti on County Route 579. The driver of the vehicle, identified as as a 38 year old individual from Hopewell Borough, provided a false name to the officer and was subsequently arrested for hindering her apprehension as there was an active warrant for her arrest from Buck’s County, PA. Further investigation revealed that the individual was in possession of CDS (controlled dangerous substance) and drug paraphernalia. They were transported to police headquarters for processing and later transferred to the Mercer County Correctional facility. The cases will be heard in Superior Court.

Shoplifting

Officer Michael Crincoli was detailed to Shop-Rite on Pennington Road for a shoplifting complaint on July 28. The complainant reported two (2) individuals entered the store and stole miscellaneous merchandise valued at approximately $600.00. Further investigation led to the identification of one of the suspects, a 49 year old individual from Trenton, NJ.  They were charged with shoplifting and the complaint was placed on a summons.  The case will be heard in Superior Court.

Theft

Officer Steven Ciosek was detailed to a Scotch Road address for a reported theft from a motor vehicle. The complainant reported that sometime on August 4, an unknown individual(s) entered their vehicle and removed a laptop computer. The value of the item was approximately $4,000.00. Investigation is ongoing.

Burglary/ Theft

Officer James Klesney was detailed to a Woodmere Way address for a reported burglary/theft of a residence. The complainant reported that sometime between August 4 and August 5, an unknown individual(s) entered their residence and removed cash and jewelry. The value of the items removed was approximately $200.00. Investigation is ongoing.

DWI

On August 5, 2022 at approximately 11:49am, Officer Neil Hunt conducted a motor vehicle stop on Washington Crossing Pennington Road in the area of Scotch Road for a motor vehicle violation. Through the investigation, Officer Hunt determined that the driver, a 41 year old individual from Pennington, NJ, was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. They were placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for processing. They were charged with driving while under the influence and later released. The case will be heard in Municipal Court.

Burglary, Defiant Trespassing

On August 5, 2022, Officer James Klesney was detailed to a Washington Crossing Pennington Road address for a trespassing complaint. Through the investigation, Officer Klesney identified the actor as a 48 year old individual from Pennington, NJ. They were placed under arrest on scene and transported to police headquarters for processing. They were charged with burglary and defiant trespassing and released from custody with a summons. The case will be heard in Superior Court.
