Last Thanksgiving, local church continued tradition of pie donations

Getting ready to deliver pies at the Hopewell Valley Food Pantry are L-R, Hannah Davis, Katie Davis, and Bev Tucker, from St Matthew’s.

What would a holiday dinner be without pumpkin pie? In November, St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Pennington donated more than 100 pumpkin pies to the Hopewell Valley Food Pantry, which distributed them as part of the Thanksgiving dinners it delivered to Hopewell Valley families in need.

Working in partnership with the students of Timberlane Middle School and the Pennington Market, St. Matthew’s parishioners decided to fund the pie donation as an expression of their own gratitude for the kindness and generosity shown for one another by the community during the pandemic.
