Hopewell Borough to Celebrate America’s 250th and Borough’s 135th Anniversary With Community Festival

by Community Contributor

Hopewell Borough will mark two major milestones this summer with a town-wide celebration honoring both the nation’s 250th anniversary and the borough’s own 135th year of incorporation.

The USA 250th Town-Wide Celebration will take place Friday, June 6, from 4 to 10 p.m. at the Historic Hopewell Train Station, bringing together history, music, food and community activities for an evening designed to reflect both Hopewell’s local roots and the broader story of America’s founding.

The event commemorates the upcoming 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence while also celebrating Hopewell Borough’s 135th anniversary. Organizers are planning a mix of historical programming and community festivities, including reenactors, pioneer-era games, live music, a community dinner and a guided walking tour connected to Hopewell’s Revolutionary War history.

Festivities begin at 4 p.m. with the Town Crier opening the event, followed by a public reading of the Declaration of Independence.

From 4 to 6 p.m., attendees can explore living history demonstrations featuring historical presentations, period reenactors, pioneer crafts and games, and a musket firing demonstration. The afternoon programming is free and family friendly.

At 5:15 p.m., a guided walking tour will visit the John Hart Monument and the Old School Baptist Meeting House, highlighting the legacy of Hart, the Hopewell resident and signer of the Declaration of Independence. The tour is free to attend.

Beginning at 6 p.m., the celebration shifts into an evening community gathering with a buffet-style pig roast and seasonal sides catered by Brick Farm Tavern. Gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options will also be available. Dinner tickets are priced at $2.50 per person.

A beer garden featuring beer, wine and Truly beverages will operate from 6 to 10 p.m. for guests 21 and older. Beer garden admission is $20 per person. The event is operating under Social Affairs Permit #152791.

Live music by Castle Lane will begin at 6:30 p.m. and continue through 10 p.m., with dancing and community festivities planned throughout the evening.
