To the Editor:
Hopewell Township needs Deputy Mayor Julie Blake, who is up for re-election to the Hopewell Township Committee on November 6.
You might not know Julie personally, but we do, and we know that your concerns are her concerns when it comes to our hometown. Julie and her husband, David, raised their two children in their home in Brandon Farms, and they’ve both dedicated their careers to making sure other people’s kids have positive role models, Julie as a high school counselor and David as a college professor.
Over the last three years, the people of Hopewell Township have had the chance to see Julie as a role model for what politics should be about: listening. Making the tough decisions. Caring deeply about issues, whether they affect her neighborhood or yours. Julie knows what is important to our community, from filling potholes to responsible use of our land. Julie is as even-keeled as they come, which is both incredibly useful at Township Committee meetings and invites residents of all points of view to contribute in solving the challenges we all face.
If you want your tax dollars to go to services for our community and not to a bank to pay for interest on debt, Julie stands with you. If you want our community to have control over our constitutional obligation to provide the opportunity for affordable housing rather than allowing a builder’s remedy lawsuit, Julie stands with you. If you want to keep the PennEast pipeline out of Hopewell Township, Julie stands with you. If you want to hold our public utilities to account and conserve these 59 beautiful square miles, Julie stands with you, and if you give her the chance to return to the Hopewell Township Committee, she will continue to do what it takes to protect all our resources, whether they’re in our wallets or beneath our feet.
Having Julie’s experience, her calm and respectful demeanor, and her thoughtful decision-making will help our community move forward over the next three years. We hope you’ll take the opportunity to get to know Julie like we do, and we ask for your vote for Julie Blake for Hopewell Township Committee on November 6.
