Mountain Bikes Stolen from Home
On July 4, 2026, Officer Anthony Pizzola responded to a residence on Concord Pl for a report of the theft of bicycles. The victim reported that during the overnight hours between July 3rd and July 4th, two mountain bikes, valued at approximately $600.00, were stolen from the rear of his property. At the time of the theft, the bikes were near the back entrance of the residence and were unsecured. A canvass was conducted of surrounding residences for video surveillance and the incident remains under investigation.
Flat Tires Lead to DUI Arrest
Officer Blake Demeter was traveling on Route 579 on July 4, 2026 when he observed a vehicle parked on the northbound shoulder with two flat driver-side tires. The officer stopped to check on the disabled motorist and the driver. A check of the driver’s license revealed two outstanding warrants issued by the City of Trenton and West Windsor Township. While speaking with her, Officer Demeter also observed signs of intoxication and requested that she perform standardized field sobriety tests. Based on his observations, she was placed under arrest for suspicion of Driving Under the Influence, as well as for the outstanding warrants, and transported to HTPD headquarters for processing and breath testing. She was subsequently charged with Driving Under the Influence, Reckless Driving, and Driving While Suspended. Leonard was released on her own recognizance with new court dates for the City of Trenton and West Windsor Township municipal courts. The motor vehicle summonses will be heard in Hopewell Township Municipal Court.
Traffic Stop Leads to Outstanding Warrant Arrest
On July 4, 2026, Officer Toney Rushing and Officer Stanton were conducting routine patrol in the area of Route 29 when they observed a vehicle make a right turn from Route 29 onto Route 546 without utilizing a turn signal. A motor vehicle stop was initiated for the observed violation, and the officers made contact with the male driver, who was unable to produce a driver’s license, vehicle registration, or proof of insurance. The driver also provided the officers with a false name and date of birth. Following further on-scene investigation, the officers identified the driver. A check of his driver’s license revealed an active warrant issued by Middlesex County and he was placed under arrest on the outstanding warrant, and for providing false identifying information to officers. He was transported to HTPD headquarters for processing and was subsequently lodged at the Mercer County Corrections Center on the outstanding warrant. Kaye was also charged with Hindering Apprehension. The matter will be heard in Hopewell Township Municipal Court.
Mortar Found Inside Home
Officer Neil Hunt and other HTPD units responded to a residence on E. Broad Street on July 6, 2026, following a report of a mortar found inside the home. The caller stated that he discovered the device while cleaning out his deceased family member’s belongings. The residence was evacuated, and the New Jersey State Police Bomb Squad responded to assist with determining whether the mortar was live. Further investigation confirmed that it was inert, and possession of the mortar was turned over to NJSP.
DUI and Drug Charges After Vehicle Stops in Road
On July 7, 2026, Officer Paul Alvaro was on routine patrol in the area of Pleasant Valley Rd and Rt 579 when he observed a vehicle traveling southbound on Route 579 come to a complete stop in the lane of travel, causing traffic to begin to back up behind it. A motor vehicle stop was initiated, and upon approaching the vehicle, Officer Alvaro made contact with the driver, and observed signs of intoxication. He then requested that the driver perform standardized field sobriety tests and based on his observations, placed him under arrest for Driving Under the Influence. He was transported to HTPD headquarters for processing and breath testing. A search of the vehicle was also conducted and resulted in the discovery of suspected drug paraphernalia. Prior to his release from custody, he was charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Driving Under the Influence, Reckless Driving, Delaying Traffic, Obstructing the Passage of Other Vehicles, and Driving with a Suspended License. The matter will be heard in Hopewell Township Municipal Court.
Money Reported Stolen from Borough Home
Officer Michael Crincoli responded to a residence on Voorhees Ave in Hopewell Borough for the report of a burglary and theft on July 8, 2026. The victim reported that an unknown party had entered her residence and stole $300.00 in cash from her purse while she was on a walk. The residence was unsecured at the time of the theft and there were no signs of forced entry. She advised that she was away from the residence for approximately an hour and noticed the missing money when she returned. She did not report any additional items stolen. A canvass of the surrounding neighborhood was conducted for video surveillance and the incident remains under investigation.
Reported Break-In on Creek Rim Dr.
On July 12, 2026, Officer Toney Rushing responded to a residence on Creek Rim Dr, for the report of a burglary. The victim reported that she had left her residence for approximately 40 minutes and when she returned she found a door in the residence was opened and unlocked. She reported that the door was closed at the time that she departed from the residence and that the door is normally kept closed and locked. She advised that a door to the residence was unsecured at the time of the incident. There were no signs of forced entry. No items were reported to have been stolen from the residence. A canvass of the surrounding neighborhood was conducted for video surveillance and the incident remains under investigation.
