Near Miss with Pedestrian Yields DWI Arrest in Hopewell Borough

by MercerMe Staff

At 9:19pm on July 18, Officer Mark Panzano from the Hopewell Township Police Department responded to a 911-call from a pedestrian on Broad Street, in Hopewell Borough, reporting that a passing Toyota almost struck him or her while in a crosswalk.

Officer Panzano located the vehicle nearby, on Mercer Street, and spoke with the driver who was identified as a male resident of Stroudsburg, PA.  While speaking with him, Officer Panzano found the odor of alcohol to be obvious on his breath and person.  After roadside sobriety testing, the individual was placed under arrest for DWI, transported to police headquarters and processed and released. His case will be heard in municipal court.
