The Pennington Square Shopping Center, home to the popular Pennington Quality Market and Pennington Bagel, has recently welcomed new businesses that offer promising additions to the community. One of them will be a seafood restaurant – something many Hopewell Valley diners have hoped for.
In the space formerly occupied by TJ’s Restaurant, diners at the new Union Boil restaurant will be able to indulge in American classics with a seafood twist, depicted in an extensive menu featuring burgers and flatbreads along with shrimp, lobster, and oysters. With a vast variety of menu options, the location will feature a unique dining experience that cannot be found anywhere else in the area.
“Our inspiration came from our love of the water, specifically the Chesapeake area and the Cajun flare when it comes to seafood” Remarked owner John Procaccini, who is known for his numerous other restaurants in the Pennington/Hopewell area, such as Osteria Procaccini and PJ’s Pancake House. “I believe this restaurant will add something new, family friendly, fun vibe, and most importantly, a unique seafood style restaurant and bar that has not been seen before in our area”
The newest addition’s name, “Union Boil”, offers a glimpse into what Procaccini remarks as the restaurant’s must-try dish: the Seafood Boil. A seafood boil, according to the restaurant’s menu, is a traditional social event that brings together friends and family. Diners can choose the size of their boil, with the Lil’ Boil serving 2-3 people, the Big Boil serving 4-5, and the Union Boil serving 6-8.
Procaccini also notes that diners can expect a similar experience to that of other Gretalia Hospitality Group restaurants in the area, featuring attention to detail, high quality food, cleanliness, and menu diversity.
It is also important to note that Union Boil will have a full liquor license, allowing diners to also grab a drink at the restaurant’s gorgeous, nautical themed, 25-seat bar that also features TVs.
For loyal customers of TJ’s, the restaurant is not gone for good. The Pennington favorite has moved to what was formerly known as the Inn of the Hawke in Lambertville, NJ. The restaurant, now named “The Hawke” is a casual steakhouse that features American fare as well as beer, cocktails, and wines by the glass.
Be sure to keep an eye out for Union Boil’s opening in the coming months!
