Pennington-based photographer John Clarke won first place for his piece Mother’s Love, in this year’s Photography 43 competition at Perkins Center for the Arts in Moorestown.
John Clarke is a world traveler and a member of Gallery 14, a co-op gallery of fine art photographers in Hopewell Borough. He is a retired architect who turned his creative talents to street photography and has exhibited throughout the region.
Photography 43, a juried photography show, is held each January. This year’s theme was “Point of View” and there were four cash prizes. During this annual competition, dozens of artists from the region submit works for consideration by Juror Liz Wuillermin, a Hammonton-based professional photographer whose work has appeared in the Philadelphia Inquirer, Philadelphia Magazine, Martha Stewart Living, and many other publications as well as the books “The Philadelphia Orchestra’s: A Century of Music” and “Larry Kane’s Philadelphia”.
Wuillermin selected the entries to exhibit and named the winners on January 29, 2024 during an artist’s reception. The show is on view at Perkins Moorestown until February 23.
