Power Outages and Road Closures in Wake of Wild Weather

by Mary Galioto

This is a message from Hopewell Valley Emergency Management:

There currently is a widespread area of power outage in the JCP&L area in the western portion of the township. There are also several areas on Route 29 that are closed due to downed trees and power lines. The outage is expected to last for an extended period of time. The Titusville firehouse located on Route 29 has been opened as a resource center for residents without power from 9:00 A.M. today until 9:00 P.M. Residents can bring electronic devices to be charged as well as sit in the air conditioning. Potable water is available, however, residents need to bring their own containers. Residents can access the firehouse by traveling either Route 546 to Route 29 northbound or Church Road to Route 29 Southbound.
For residents in the eastern portion of the township, potable water will be available at the Hopewell Township Public Works building. The Hopewell Township Municipal Building is also open as a resource center until 4:30 P.M. today. Residents can charge electronic devices as well as sit in the air conditioning. For further updates please visit the townships website at www.hopewelltwp.org or the police department’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/HopewellTwpNJPolice/. If you need immediate assistance please dial 9-1-1, for non-emergency assistance please call the police department 609-737-3100.
