To the Editor:
There is a bill in the NJ Assembly. NJ A1255, that will impact almost everyone in Hopewell Valley: “The Ensuring Transparency in Prior Authorization Act.” For anyone (and that is most of us) who is prescribed a drug requires pre-authorization this bill will eliminate pre-authorization for generic drugs, shorten the evaluation period for insurances from 15 days to 2 days, and eliminate re-authorization for drugs during the therapy period. This will apply to NJ based health carriers, but if we pass this in New Jersey, 30 other states will move similar bills forward.
So what is holding up this consumer friendly bill??? Lack of public comment!
Like most of us, I did not even know this was in process until someone told me. But, now that I know, it is clear that without letters to our representatives, this bill will die in committee.
Read the bill, write to your assembly representative, and if you know anyone elsewhere in the state, ask them to write to their assembly representative.
