As dust settles on the nation’s presidential race, here’s a look at Hopewell Township’s results, finalized on November 12. The final counts reveal Urmila “Uma” Purandare’s (D) win over Bob Zansitis(R) for the Hopewell Township Committee seat and overwhelming “yes” votes on two requests to purchase fire and emergency vehicles. Vote totals were finalized two days ago, after election officials completed counts of the remaining early, mail-in and provisional ballots. Of 270,617 registered voters, there were 159,716 ballots cast.
2024 RESULTS
Hopewell Township Committee
Urmila “Uma” Purandare (D) — 6,023 (61.83% of voters)
Purandare handily beat Bob Zansitis who received 251 votes (36.75%).
Fire Question – Pennington Borough
YES 1,259 (82.88% of voters)
NO 260 (17.12%)
The “yes” vote means residents approved the borough’s spending for a new tanker, without any tax increase.
Fire Question – Hopewell Twp
YES 7,045 (80.46% voters)
NO 1,711 (19.54%)
Total 8,756
The “yes” vote means residents approved township spending on several fire and emergency service vehicles, with a $30 increase in their annual tax bills.
