Thunder Finish Home Season With a Sweep

by Seth Siditsky

The Trenton Thunder closed their regular-season home schedule with a sweep of the State College Spikes and a five-game winning streak, capped by Sunday’s 7–3 win at Trenton Thunder Ballpark. Trenton led wire-to-wire in the finale, highlighted by John Schroeder’s first-inning RBI single and an eighth-inning two-run homer, plus two RBI knocks from Tyler Collins. The victory pushed the Thunder’s second-half mark to 22–19.

The sweep followed a Saturday night sellout—7,243 fans—where Trenton won in sudden-death fashion. Andy Vega delivered the walk-off RBI single after State College scored four in the ninth to erase a 5–1 Thunder lead. Vega, Collins, and Cameron Yuran scored all five Thunder runs and combined for five of the club’s eight hits, with a seventh-inning hit-and-run sparking a three-run frame.

With the home slate complete, Trenton hits the road to face Frederick in a best-of-three to close the year.
