Sourland Conservancy and Arbor Day Foundation to Host Tree Planting at Skillman Park

by Community Contributor

The Sourland Conservancy and the Arbor Day Foundation are inviting community members to help plant 1,000 trees at Skillman Park on Sunday, October 19, from 9–11:30 a.m.

The event is part of the Conservancy’s Ecological Restoration Project, which aims to restore forest health across the Sourland Mountain Region — an area that has lost more than one million trees to the emerald ash borer since 2020. Planting new trees helps stabilize streambanks, reduce flooding, improve water quality, and restore critical habitat for wildlife and pollinators.

“The Arbor Day Foundation is dedicated to helping our local planting partners unlock the transformative power of trees in their community,” said Dan Lambe, the Foundation’s chief executive.

Volunteers can register to participate at this link. Participants should meet at Parking Lot A in Skillman Park (Google Map).
