Hopewell Township police and several assisting agencies responded Sunday morning to a Timkak Lane residence after a person experiencing what police described as a mental health incident barricaded themselves inside a room and refused to come out.
Police said officers responded at approximately 9:29 a.m. Sept. 6 and made several attempts to communicate with the individual and resolve the situation peacefully. During the investigation, the person was charged with terroristic threats and harassment, and a warrant was issued for their arrest, according to police.
With the individual remaining barricaded, Hopewell Township police coordinated a response that included the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, Mercer County Tactical Response Team, Capital Health Mobile Outreach and Mercer County Sheriff’s Office.
Following continued efforts to resolve the incident, the person was removed from the residence without injury, police said.
Police said there was no threat to the surrounding community or general public during the incident and no ongoing threat related to the case.
Police activity around Timkak Lane was visible for most of the day as the event continued.
