Breeze Airways Begins Service at Trenton-Mercer Airport

by Community Contributor

Breeze Airways has officially begun flying out of Trenton-Mercer Airport, launching its new service Sunday with the first flights between Mercer County and Charleston, South Carolina.

The first Breeze flight from Charleston arrived at Trenton-Mercer Airport at about 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, with Mercer County Executive Dan Benson on hand to welcome arriving passengers. The first departing flight left Trenton for Charleston at about 6 p.m., according to Mercer County.

The launch follows Breeze’s announcement this summer that it would add Trenton-Mercer Airport to its growing network, bringing several new destinations to the Ewing airport.

“I’m excited to welcome travelers to and from Charleston on Breeze Airways’ first flights out of Trenton Mercer Airport,” Benson said. “With nonstop flights to three destinations, our partnership with Breeze helps us continue to bring affordable travel options that will further solidify Mercer County as an economic hub and tourist destination.”

Charleston service is operating on Thursdays and Sundays. Breeze said the route currently has fares starting at $89 one way.

The airline’s Trenton schedule will expand again next week. Nonstop flights to Vero Beach, Florida, are scheduled to begin Sept. 30, initially operating Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Breeze also plans nonstop service to Fort Myers, Florida, beginning in January, along with one-stop BreezeThru service to Fort Lauderdale that allows passengers to remain on the same aircraft.

“We’re excited to bring Breeze to Trenton and connect more travelers in the region with the beautiful city of Charleston,” Breeze founder and CEO David Neeleman said. “With Breeze, our Guests get a high-value, low-cost product with a convenient nonstop route from their own backyard straight to some amazing destinations.”

Breeze launched in 2021 and specializes in connecting secondary airports and underserved markets. The airline says it now operates more than 300 year-round and seasonal routes serving 91 cities in the United States, Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean.
