Demographer to Speak at Next District Enrollment Meeting, June 16

by Andrea Fereshteh

In an email to the school district constituents last night, Hopewell Valley Regional School District (HVSRD) Superintendent Tom Smith announced that the next meeting of the Future Planning Advisory Committee — established to help develop and present recommendations regarding the long-term planning for the district — will be held Monday June 16 in the Timberland 8th Grade House Center.

The meeting will feature a presentation by the demographer retained by the district to review enrollment trends and the potential development in the communities served by HVRSD. The demographer will present his findings and projections to the Board of Education and to the Future Planning Committee. The Board meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. and the demographer’s presentation will follow, at approximately 8:15 p.m. The meeting is open to the public. It also will be recorded and made available on cable channel 19 and Verizon FiOS channel 32.

Smith also noted in the email that the committee has met six times since its inception and is on-track to present recommendations for the district to the Board of Education in the fall of 2014. Information about the committee’s progress is available on the HVRSD website.

MercerMe has been covering the enrollment issue in depth, and will be listening in at Monday’s meeting. Hope to see you there!
