Colorectal Cancer Awareness Day: Wednesday, March 6, 11am-4pm, Capital Health Medical Center-Hopewell, One Capital Way, Pennington. Featuring the Rollin’ Colon a giant inflatable human colon will be on-site at Capital Health Medical Center – Hopewell, home to the Capital Health Cancer Center and Center for Digestive Health, to highlight a day filled with information and free giveaways to raise awareness about colorectal cancer risk factors and screening guidelines. Walk through The Rollin’ Colon and learn more about what conditions affect the human colon and how cancer can develop. Wear blue for National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. Pick up free blue giveaways and digestive health-related information.

The Short of It – Lorrie Moore: Wednesday, March 13, 2pm, Mercer County Library-Hopewell, 245 Pennington Titusville Road, Pennington. The short story — short in length, but full of content! Each month we read and discuss three short stories by the same author. This month’s author is Lorrie Moore and her short stories, “You’re Ugly, Too,” “How to Talk to Your Mother,” and “Willing.” No registration necessary.

 55+ Breakfast Series: Colon Cancer: Know Your Risk Factors, Screening Guidelines & Treatment Options: Friday, March 15, 8:30am, Capital Health Medical Center-Hopewell, NJ Pure Conference Center, One Capital Way, Pennington. s part of National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month in March, attend our free breakfast discussion about colon cancer — risk factors, screening guidelines, and treatment options — led by fellowship trained gastroenterologist DR. MARION-ANNA PROTANO from Mercer Gastroenterology. Melissa Phelps, a registered dietitian and certified specialist in oncology nutrition at the Capital Health Cancer Center, will also discuss nutrition guidelines to promote the health of your colon. Vaccines are especially important for older adults. Join us as Capital Health Pharmacy presents Vaccines for Older Adults, come learn about the various vaccines that are recommended for older adults, including Flu, Pneumonia, Tdap (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis), Shingles etc. Getting vaccinated helps keep not only you healthy but your family, friends and community!

Treating GERD (Acid Reflux)and Barrett’s Esophagus: March 27, 2019, 6 pm, Capital Health Medical Center – Hopewell NJ PURE Conference Center, One Capital Way, Pennington, NJ 08534 DR. JASON ROGART, director of Interventional Gastroenterology and Therapeutic Endoscopy at Capital Health Center for Digestive Health, will discuss medical, endoscopic, and surgical treatment options for GERD, as well as radiofrequency ablation for the eradication of Barrett’s Esophagus, a pre-cancerous condition that can result from chronic acid reflux.
