Hopewell Township leadership goes the extra mile (or more) for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Mercer County

by Community Contributor

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Mercer County is celebrating its 85th anniversary this year.  As part of its yearlong festivities, the organization is holding its annual Run for Club Kids during the Meadows Miler in Rosedale Park on Saturday, November 5.  This fundraiser, which is in its sixth year, aims to raise over $150,000 to provide college and career preparation as well as after school programs.

In recognition of this milestone, six current and former members of the Hopewell Township Committee—Courtney Peters-Manning, Michael Ruger, Kevin Kuchinski, Uma Pumadare, David Chait, and Julie Blake—have joined together as Team Hopewell Township to raise funds for a very worthy cause.

“We’ve become friends through our work serving the Township, and this is another way that we can give back to the community,” said Michael Ruger, who is Vice Chair of the Board of Directors at Boys & Girls Clubs of Mercer County. “Through my work on the Board, I have a first-hand view of the great work that the Boys and Girls Clubs does every day. The after-school, weekend and summer programs help more than 2,600 young people every year.”

In addition to its Clubhouses at 212 Centre Street in Trenton and 1040 Spruce Street in Lawrence Township, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Mercer County also operates After School Programs at ten Trenton and Ewing public schools and a Bike Exchange at 1500 North Olden Avenue in Ewing.

Tax-deductible donations to support their fundraising efforts may be made at:  https://secure.qgiv.com/event/rfck2022/team/906830/donate/
