Hopewell Valley Regional School District Seeking EcoWarrior Award Nominations

by Mary Galioto

Hopewell Valley Regional School District (HVRSD) and Friends of Hopewell Valley Open Space (FoHVOS) have partnered to recognize the students who have most helped to preserve the rural character of the Hopewell Valley by reducing our carbon footprint and addressing the waste we create. Currently, submissions are being accepted for nominations for “EcoWarriors,” one of whom will be named for each school in the District. The EcoWarrior will be nominated by the individual school-based Green Team, and the Board of Education will recognize recipients at their meeting on May 21, 2018.  And, in honor of the EcoWarrior, FoHVOS will also plant a native tree at a local preserve.

Each school-based Green Team will select one student who embodies the environmental mission of the district. Students will be selected based on nominations which can be submitted by parents, students and/or staff. Submission Deadline: Monday, May 14, 11:59PM

Guidelines for Nominations:

In 100 words or less, briefly describe why this student deserves the HVRSD EcoWarrior Award. Be sure to include how the student’s work supports the district mission by:

  • Significantly contributing to the improvement of his/her school environment
  • Demonstrating a high level of care and commitment for the school and environment
  • Highlighting any environmental projects that took place in school or in the Hopewell Valley community

All nominations must include the students name, school and grade. Nominations must be submitted using this form.

Submission Deadline: Monday, May 14, 11:59PM
Announcement: May 21 Board of Education Meeting. Awardees will be notified on or before May 17.
