The Hopewell Township Police Department, along with the Pennington Fire Company, responded to a Tara Way address today in the Elm Ridge Park section of Hopewell Township for a residential structure fire. The residents had observed fire in a first floor room and dialed 9-1-1.

Fire personnel, under the command of Deputy Chief Roger Demareski arrived on location and quickly extinguished a small fire in a first floor room. Responding agencies assisting the Pennington Fire Company were the Hopewell Fire Department, Union Fire Company, Hopewell Valley Emergency Services and the Princeton Fire Department.

The home suffered minor fire and smoke damage. The home remained habitable. No injuries were reported.

The source of the fire is under investigation by Detective Liotta of the Hopewell Township Police Department and Fire Official Andrew Fosina of the Hopewell Valley Emergency Services. The fire does not appear to be suspicious in nature at this time.
