HV Arts Council Kicks-Off Daily Dose of Art

by Community Contributor

To the Editor:

The Hopewell Valley Arts Council is taking precautions this season for the health of our community. As such, our March events are postponed and will be rescheduled for a future date.

Postponed:
March 26 – ArtConnect Forum at the Pennington School
March 30 – ARTspire Community Information Session at the HV Vineyards

Looking ahead, we will heed recommendations from local health agencies and the CDC, and will keep you updated regarding the status of our April events via our website and social media.

As we experience this global health crisis together, art lovers and art makers share a unique perspective of beauty in the world that we can offer to bring a sense of calm to our families and friends.

It’s a bit ironic that “The Power of Art to Heal” was the theme for the March ArtConnect Forum. So let’s walk the talk….

Beginning Saturday, March 14, the HV Arts Council will provide a “Daily Dose of Art” — ideas for small art projects to take your mind to another place (and entertain bored kids). It will be a daily dose of art therapy to rejuvenate your soul and spark your creativity. Each day, we will post a coloring page or a project idea that you can make your own. The projects will use everyday items and need few supplies other than scissors, paper, glue, and markers or paint.

We’d love to see what you make, so post your creations to #HVArtsDailyDose or email us at [email protected]. We will need to stay in touch via technology for now, but look forward to being able to get together in person again very soon. So for now, just keep washing your hands!

“Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.” – Pablo Picasso

Carol Lipson,

Executive Director
