An 8.6-mile kayak and canoe race along the Delaware & Raritan Canal is set for 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 3, starting from Turning Basin Park in Princeton.
Open to all paddlers, the race features an out-and-back course with a turnaround near the Route 1 bridge in Lawrence. The event benefits D&R Canal Watch, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting and enhancing the D&R Canal State Park.
Participants will compete for Half-Mule Day trophies in several categories, including top overall finishers and age-based divisions. Additional recognition will go to the Most Improved paddler based on past race times. Early registrants—about the first 45—will receive a race-branded reusable cotton grocery bag.
Online registration is required by May 1. No race-day registration will be accepted. Safety equipment, including a personal flotation device, hydration, and a pealess whistle, is mandatory.

Turning Basin Park is located on Alexander Road between the Stony Brook and D&R Canal bridges.
