Kevin Nerwinski Takes Medical Leave as Lawrence Township Manager

by Kyle Nardine

Longtime Lawrence Township Municipal Manager Kevin Nerwinski will take an extended medical leave following what the Township described as a significant medical event.

Township Attorney Arthur Sypek announced Nerwinski’s leave during the Aug. 18 Lawrence Township Council meeting. Deputy Municipal Manager Christopher Longo has been appointed acting municipal manager until further notice.

“Our municipal manager, Kevin Nerwinski, recently experienced a significant medical event and will be on an extended medical leave of absence,” Sypek said.

No additional details about Nerwinski’s condition were provided, with Township officials respecting his family’s request for privacy.

Nerwinski has served as Lawrence Township’s municipal manager since 2017, overseeing the day-to-day operations of Township government. His service to Lawrence stretches back much further, including previous roles as Township attorney, municipal prosecutor and municipal judge.

Longo also has a long history of service in Lawrence Township. He was hired as deputy municipal manager in 2025 following a 25-year career with the Lawrence Township Police Department, where he rose through the ranks and served as police chief.

The Township Council’s next meeting is scheduled for Sept. 15.
