To the Editor:
Greetings fellow Hopewell residents, I am writing to you today to let you know I am running as one of the Democratic candidates for Hopewell Borough Council during the November 6th, 2018 mid-term election cycle.
I am asking for your vote on November 6th to have the opportunity to serve as your elected representative.
It is very important that everyone’s voice is heard and that we all make an effort to vote on November 6th.
I grew up in New Jersey and my family and I moved to Hopewell Borough in 2002. We feel at home in Hopewell and believe that we could not have raised our son in a better place. I have worked at Merrill Lynch/Bank of America for the past 20 years and my current role is as a Project Manager.
I became involved in the Hopewell community almost immediately upon moving to town. Our first year here I volunteered for the Hopewell Harvest Fair and soon after served as Board President for four years, including during the 20th anniversary of the Fair. I also chaired the celebrations marking the 125th anniversary of the Borough, coordinating over 20 events in 2016, creating a map of our town, and working closely with a large number of local volunteers who made it truly a year to remember.
I have served on a number of local boards, including the Hopewell Valley Education Foundation, and had the privilege of leading the global Merrill Lynch Disability Awareness Professional Network over a 10-year period. In 2006 I and other local volunteers started the Hopewell Block Party, an annual gathering that we founded to promote strong community relations within the Borough. We have donated proceeds from the event to local non-profits every year since its inception. I have decided to run for office because Hopewell has given me so much, and I want to give back by serving as your elected representative.
I love this town and hope to have the opportunity to serve as a member of the Borough Council. This community has been a wonderful place to live, make friends and watch our children grow. I look forward to partnering with the residents, officials and the other members of the Borough Council to make our town an even better place to live, raise our families and to continue Hopewell’s tradition of being a welcoming, nurturing, and walkable town.
