To the Editor:
I’m writing to ask for your support as a Democratic candidate for Hopewell Borough Council on the November 6, 2018 mid-term election cycle.
I settled in Hopewell Borough in 2004 after growing up in both the Borough and the Township. I attended school in the HopewellValley Regional School District and, after high school, earned my bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University, with a dual major in political science and religion.
I’ve worked in Human Resources for much of my post-college career. Currently, I’m an HR Advisor with a Hopewell Borough-based, woman-owned advisory firm. I love that my job is local, allowing me to walk to work and be available for my children. I find great contentment living, working, and participating in all that Hopewell has to offer.
In 2011 and 2016, I served as the Secretary of the Hopewell Harvest Fair Board. Since 2016, I served on the leadership team for Mercer County Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, until recently taking on the role of New Jersey Membership Lead for the organization. I’ve volunteered on various ‘get-out-the-vote’ efforts since college, and I currently serve as the Hopewell Borough Democratic Municipal Chair. I made the decision to step down as the Treasurer of the Hopewell Valley Democratic Club to pursue a seat on the Council, because my heart is in Hopewell Borough.
As a candidate for Council, some of my concerns include addressing cut-through traffic on our side streets and pedestrian safety in our mixed-use town; finding new ways to engage the community with its government and tapping all of diverse resources we have in the Borough; and working to ensure that our town continues to reflect the values important to our progressive, engaged, environmentally conscious and caring community.
This community has been a wonderful place to live and to raise my children. I look forward to partnering with residents, officials and the other members of the Borough Council to make our town an even better place to live, raise our families and to continue Hopewell’s tradition of being a welcoming, nurturing, and walkable town.
I’m asking for your vote on November 6th and hope to have the opportunity to serve as your elected representative.
