To the Editor:
Earlier this week I came across an article on NJ Spotlight reporting that the NJ Board of Public Utilities has sold Elizabethtown Gas to a private-equity fund managed by JP Morgan Chase:
Elizabethtown supplies a significant portion of Hopewell Township with natural gas service. The past six months the rate we’ve been paying for service is the highest that I’ve ever been charged in 20 years and it looks like the BPU, in addition to selling us out to Wall Street, is guaranteeing JP Morgan that are these will be the rates we will be locked into for at least the next two years regardless of market fluctuation.
How is it that our Mayor and Township Committee has not, at least insofar as I am aware, loudly taken issue with the BPU on this? How is this issue not the front page in the different public forums dedicated to serving the best interests of the residents of Hopewell Township?
Joe Gordon,
